So many beautiful locations to elope in southern california! To start, what is an en elopement? Definition is ‘to run away secretly, especially to get married without parental consent.’ However, over the past few years it’s becoming a popular alternative to big weddings, and a way to make the day celebrating you two; being a small, intimate wedding gathering or just the two of you.
As a photographer based in San Diego, I have compiled a list of my favorite elopement locations. Some are beaches and some are architecture, and they are all lovely.
Sunset Cliffs, San Diego
Known for its jaw dropping cliffs, this location is perfect for a small intimate wedding or elopement. The cliff with the beautiful window is a favorite, and the tides are always different, which makes it special. This has been a popular option for couples that are having a ceremony at the courthouse and want a second locations.
Laguna Beach, Orange County
The perfect little beach town with stunning beaches. A favorite is Shaws Cove, has a small beach being overlooked by palm trees. There is also a rocky plateau that can be accessed during a lower tide. Another favorite is Crescent Bay Beach, which is the beach north of Shaws, but has a bigger beach.
Santa Barbara Courthouse, Santa Barbara
The most scenic court house I have seen. Being a small destination, this court house features beautiful architecture and palms surrounding it. To add another location, try the Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm; it is a vintage green house that offers a pretty beach as well.
