Milos, Greece— one of my favorite Greek isles. The island is full of character and charm, and a perfect location for a destination wedding. I traveled here a few years ago, and I loved how less inhibited the island was but still had amazing beaches and restaurants to celebrate.
Have compiled a list of favorites to plan your destination wedding. Some of my favorite weddings captured have been destination; not only because the location is fabulous, but because it is amazing how family and friends from across the world come together to celebrate two people, and the celebration lasts multiple days vs one day.
Happy planning, and please inquiry about wedding photography in Greece, I would love to capture your wedding story.
Milos has wonderful beaches and scenery and cliffs. One of the beautiful cliffs is Sarakiniko beach, a unique landscape that is known for its volcanic rock, white formations that resemble a moonscape. Ideal spot to jump cliffs and watch the sunset. Definitely add this to your itinerary.
The wedding week is best started with a welcome dinner. There are two options I recommend. One is Medusa Restaurant, which is right next to the stunning Mandrakia old fishing village, which is very scenic.
Another ideal location is in Plaka, Milos. During the day the town is sleepy but it comes alive in the evening at sunset; especially as visitors take a short walk to the Plaka Castle to watch the sunset. After descending, a nice bar with a view is Utopia Cafe. You can also visit Verina Coffee for brunch. The neighborhood is perfect for getting lost in the streets of Milos with beautiful views.
Planning an adventure for your guest is ideal, one I highly recommend is a boat ride around the island. Some best memories from Greece have been from boats, as you get to see the vast landscape. For sailing I recommend Polco Sailing. For a bigger group a catamaran is ideal, try Naya Sailing.
For staying in Milos some beautiful hotels are Cave Suites Milos, White Pebble Suites Milos, Artemis Seaside Resort. All unique in their own way, but with character.
The most important— wedding day! Milos doesn’t have a lot of ‘wedding’ venues. But there are vendors that can transform a location into a perfect wedding reception. The beautiful restaurant Kipos is a ideal venue, that has a clean palette and ready for a celebration.
Another one checking out is Domes White Coast Milos. Be sure to take sunset portraits.
