Being in a long distance relationship, Liz & John wanted some photos which Liz was visiting San Diego. We woke up early to take photos at Scripps Pier early in the morning. It was low tide, which revealed some pretty tide pools further down the beach. So fun!
Thinking of having your vacation photographed? San Diego is the perfect spot to capture candid vacation memories. Here are some perfect locations and tips.
Scripps Pier– A favorite of mine! Just north of the hustle and bustle of La Jolla, this beach has a wide stretch of sand and cool rock formations at low tide. It is also the most kid friendly in my option, which is perfect for some photos of kids splashing in the water. There is a pier background as well!
Windansea Beach– Known for its waves, and popular among local surfers. There is lots of rocks which are common to San Diego. Also, there is a small stretch of sand.
Coronado Beach- A must visit while in San Diego. The iconic red roofed hotel is a popular vacation spot for out oft owners, as well as for locals. Coronado beach also offers some scenic photo spots, think beach meets city.
Balboa Park- For those seeking a more urban setting. Spanish architecture with lush greenery makes a perfect backdrop for phots, a favorite non-beach location.
TIPS:
+Book your session few weeks to reserve a date, especially in the summer and holiday seasons, which are busier than normal. Also, booking at the beginning of your stay, leaves you more options in case you need to reschedule.
+Wear comfortable clothes, that are for the beach. Forget the shoes, beach photos are best barefoot. Focus on each other and enjoying your trip, this way I can capture candid memories 🙂
+Best time to shoot for best light is morning or sunset. Morning time, around 8am is best, before the sun comes out. Sunset is popular as well, for ‘golden hour’. Best ligh is an hour before sunset.
