One of my favorite spots to shoot in San Diego- Scripps Pier, which is located in north La Jolla. Its a hidden gem in my opinion. The views are stunning, and there is a variety of options- beach, pier, cliffs- ideal for a San Diego family session- many options coming from a local photographer.
This cute family was visiting from Canada, and wanted to document their first family trip with baby boy. You can’t guess from the photos, but the day before and morning; was one of the rainiest days of the week, and cleared up just in time for our shoot, so glad! Felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves!
We started out with some beach shots, then walked over to the pier, which is the perfect route for a family session in San Diego. The tide was high, but we still had some sandy beach. Afterwards we headed to the pier, and did some photos underneath it, which is a unique angle. We concluded our session north of the pier, for some cliff views of Torrey Pines. At low tide, this spot is accessible after the turn, and has some cool rock formations.
The location, Scripps Pier, is ideas for families, as it offers a wide, sandy beach- perfect for little ones. Sunset is the ideal time to shoot, during golden hour. The ocean is usually low tide at this time. Some fun shots with families are walking are walking along the coast, running down the beach, sitting in the sand. With little ones, some fun poses are chasing each other, or wading in the water.
