Fell in love with Malibu, and its scenic, iconic California views on a recent trip to photograph an elopement! It’s the perfect spot for a destination elopement or micro wedding, if you’re local or visiting from out of state.
With the sun shining in Malibu, an elopement or micro wedding can be an effortless affair. The backdrop is amazing on its own, especially at sunset. With some flowers and minimal details you’re set!
The Surfrider Hotel
Located on the 101, this stunning hotel has a modern vibe and overlooks the Malibu Pier. The Surfrider Hotel features an outdoor patio, ideal for an intimate ceremony. The rooms are affordable and guest can spend the weekend in Malibu. We love the boho, beach vibe of the hotel!
Point Dume
California cliffs, with epic views. If you’re open to walking a bit, this is a must do! There is a short overlook which is ideal for a sunset ceremony, walk through the sand to find a spot that is just right for a small, intimate ceremony. We love taking bridal portraits here at sunset! For a celebration, you can always head back to an Airbnb or find a restaurant close by!
Calamigos Lounge
Love this little lounge on the 101, the decor is boho and chic! The Calamigos Lounge is part of the Ranch, and features multiple properties, in stunning Malibu. This one seems ideal as its close to the water, which is perfect for photos!
Airbnb rental
What better time to splurge on an epic Airbnb than your elopement? There are so many epic rentals in Malibu, which are perfect for a small gathering, with minimal rules and restrictions, especially during Covid time. Some of my favorite recent elopements have taken place at rentals, where the couple can elope the way they want to, and celebate; without the steep costs of a venue. You can cater from a favorite local restaurant. We enjoyed catering from Broad Street Oysters!
Other tips!
- Add minimal flowers for a personal touch, love Reed & Rye for dry floral design, best part is you can keep them after!
- A favorite officiant in SoCal is Your Wedding Belles
- A friend or family member can act as an officiant! They will need to get ordained, however it is a short and easy process
Most of all enjoy the process, and don’t stress the little details. View more of my recent elopements, let’s connect and start planning yours here.
