Kauai– Hawaiis most lush island, and the the perfect setting for a romantic wedding. A destination wedding is awesome for so man reason- 1. You can to celebrate for more than one day, more like a extended weekend with family and friends, which will make it memorable for you and everyone there. 2. A destination wedding ends up being cheaper than you think, when planned wisely. 3. Its a vacation!
Here are some of my favorite wedding venues in Kauai!
Plantation Gardens Restaurant & Bar
Once an old plantation, dating back to 1930’s, Kiahuna Plantation Resort is a perfect romantic setting. Its surrounded by lush green gardens (which will be great for photos). Minimal touches are needed to make it personal, such as tiki torches or patio lights. Since this is close to Poipu, you can always do a first look or take some portraits at the beach close by.
Hale Mana Kauai
A three acre private property, Hale Mana is a hidden gem. It features breathtaking views of the ocean, and a patio that looks out into the ocean, which is ideal for a ceremony. It is a rental with many rooms, and is secluded for a intimate wedding. Renting this will feel like renting your own private resort.
Have a different vision in mind? You can always rent a big Airbnb or VRBO, and have your wedding on the north shore, by Hanalei Bay or Haena. Such as this wedding below. They had a beach ceremony few steps away from their rental, and the celebration was in the backyard, where they brought in some local vendors, and danced the night away. This is perfect for a small elopement of 15-30 guests.
- If possible, plan your wedding during off season for discounted rates and less people!
- Plan activities before/ after wedding for your guest- such as a boat ride, hike welcome dinner or post wedding brunch.
- Stay at an Airbnb rental instead of a hotel; they end up being cheaper, have more space (kitchen, living space, etc.) and can be split among a large group to make it even more fun (and affordable).
- Check out Hanalei Town (north) for local cafes, culture and yummy eats; and be sure kayak or paddle board the Hanalei river
