They say San Diego is sunny 360 days out of the year. The say of Ali + Jef’s shoot, the weather decided to not be part of the sunny days. We still got some great shots, even if the weather wasn’t the way it usually is. Ali’s stylish dresses also made for some great photos.
Heres a list of my Top 5 Locations to shoot in the La Jolla area
Where this shoot was taken. Widnansea Beach is popular for it’s cliffs and tide pools, and it’s also a popular surf break among surfers. Sunset is the best time to shoot here, where the sunsets can be magical. Walking slightly south of Winansea, the rock formations get smaller and you can walk on the sand for more ‘beachy’ photos.
LA JOLLA COVE
Just south of the main La Jolla shops and restaurants is La Jolla cove. There is also some great cliffs and great views. On a clear day, you can see Blacks Beach and see paraglider making their descend. There is also a small beach here, which is great for photos at golden hour because there are some small rocks, which add some detail.
A bit of a hidden gem not too many people know about. The Coastal Walk can be found north of La Jolla Cove and is a bit obstructed. There is a view point before it and then the walk loops around the cove with great views. It is more green, and not so much beach.
One of my favorites! Scripps Pier is north of La Jolla, and a great beach for family photos or couple photos in the area. It’s flat, and there is a long stretch of sand. There is also a pier in the background, which is great for a ‘San Diego’ vibe. There usually is low tide in the mornings, which is great because you can walk past the cliffs and see some tide pools.
HO CHI MINH TRAIL
One for the hikers, this trail isn’t going to be the easiest. It is a rocky hike down, but the views are stunning, as well as the sand formations on the way down. Ho Chi Minh Trail will definitely make for some great photos if you’re up for exploring.
